Urbano Absolute Sathorn-Taksin: West Sathorn Condo Reviewed

Summary

Urbano Absolute Sathorn offers stylish condo living with premium amenities in Bangkok's sought-after Sathorn district, ideal for professionals and investor

If you've been scanning West Sathorn for a condo that doesn't cost an arm and a leg but still feels like a proper upgrade, Urbano Absolute Sathorn has probably popped up on your radar. Sitting on Krung Thonburi Road just across the river from the Sathorn business district, this mid rise development from Ananda hits a sweet spot that a lot of renters overlook. It's not flashy. It's not trying to be The Met or Banyan Tree Residences. But for people who actually need to live, work, and commute in Bangkok without blowing 40K a month on rent, it deserves a serious look.

Location and Getting Around

Urbano Absolute Sathorn sits right off Krung Thonburi Road, roughly 400 meters from BTS Krung Thonburi station. That's about a five to seven minute walk depending on your pace and how aggressive the sun is feeling that day. From Krung Thonburi, you're one stop from BTS Wongwian Yai and two stops from BTS Saphan Taksin, where the Chao Phraya river boats connect.

For people working in the Sathorn or Silom corridor, this commute is straightforward. You hop on at Krung Thonburi, cross the river on the BTS, and you're at Saphan Taksin or Surasak in under ten minutes. A colleague of mine made this exact commute to her office near BTS Chong Nonsi for two years and said she never once regretted living on the Thonburi side.

The immediate neighborhood has everything you'd need day to day. ICON Siam is a short ride or even a long walk south along the river. Closer to home, there's a Big C Extra on Krung Thonburi Road for groceries, plus street food stalls, laundry shops, and 7 Elevens scattered everywhere. It's not a tourist area, which honestly makes it more livable.

The Building and Facilities

Urbano Absolute Sathorn was completed around 2014 by Ananda Development. It's a pair of towers, each around 30 floors, with a total of several hundred units. The design leans modern but restrained. Think clean lines, a lot of glass, neutral tones. Nothing that's going to end up on an architecture blog, but nothing that'll embarrass you either.

Facilities include a rooftop swimming pool with decent city views, a gym that covers the basics, a sky lounge area, and 24 hour security with key card access. The pool is a highlight, honestly. On a clear evening, you can see across to the Sathorn skyline while floating around, which feels a lot more expensive than what you're actually paying in rent.

One thing to note is that some units face directly onto Krung Thonburi Road, so traffic noise can be a factor on lower floors. If you're noise sensitive, aim for higher floors or units facing the interior courtyard side. A friend rented a 12th floor unit on the road side and said it was manageable with windows closed and the aircon running, but he could definitely hear trucks at night with windows open.

Unit Types and Rent Prices

Most of the rental stock at Urbano Absolute Sathorn falls into one bedroom and two bedroom units. The one bedrooms are typically around 35 to 40 square meters, while the two bedrooms range from 55 to 70 square meters. There are some larger units available, but they hit the market less frequently.

For a one bedroom unit in decent condition, expect to pay somewhere between 12,000 and 18,000 THB per month. Two bedrooms usually land in the 18,000 to 28,000 THB range, depending on the floor, the view, and how recently the owner has updated the furnishings. These are realistic 2024 to 2025 numbers, not wishful thinking from a listing posted three years ago.

The kitchens are compact, as is standard for Bangkok condos in this price range. You get a two burner electric stove, a fridge, and enough counter space to prep a simple meal. If you cook seriously, you'll want to budget for a portable induction cooktop. The bathrooms are functional with hot water showers, and most units come furnished with a bed, wardrobe, sofa, TV, and washing machine.

Who This Condo Works Best For

Urbano Absolute Sathorn is a natural fit for young professionals working in the Sathorn, Silom, or Riverside areas who want to keep rent reasonable. It also works well for couples who need a two bedroom without paying Sukhumvit prices. Teachers at international schools in the Thonburi area will find it convenient too.

It's probably not the best pick for families with young kids, since the units skew small and the immediate area isn't particularly child friendly in terms of parks or play spaces. And if your office is on the Sukhumvit line past Asok, the commute starts to stretch. But for the Sathorn corridor crowd, it genuinely makes sense.

Potential Drawbacks to Consider

The Thonburi side of Bangkok still carries a stigma with some expats who insist on living between Nana and Thong Lo. If that's your mindset, this building won't appeal to you. But if you care more about value and a real neighborhood feel, you'll appreciate what this area offers.

Building age is starting to show in some common areas. Lobbies and hallways could use a refresh, and some units have furnishings that feel dated. Always inspect in person before signing. Individual unit condition varies hugely depending on the owner, so two units on the same floor can feel like entirely different buildings.

Urbano Absolute Sathorn won't win any awards for glamour, but it delivers where it counts. Solid location near BTS Krung Thonburi, reasonable rents, and a rooftop pool with views you'd pay double for on the other side of the river. If you're weighing your options in West Sathorn, it belongs on the shortlist. Search current listings and compare prices at superagent.co to see what's available right now.
